Diwali Blessings & New Year

In India and around the world the celebrations for Diwali have just taken place.  Diwali is like the Western Christmas and New Year. People around the world try to get home to their families to celebrate this festival.  I have first hand experience as I lived in Leicestershire for many years and it was a great time of celebration for all my friends.  Lights, food, family, dancing in the streets, more fireworks than bonfire night, roads in the city centre closed for partying. I used to try and give my staff the time off work too so they could be with their families.

Diwali usually starts a couple of weeks before by having a really good house cleaning session, buying new clothes for celebrating and buying new toys for the children.  The God and Goddess of Wealth, Lakshmi and Ganesha repsectively are worshipped by offering sweets and rituals.  Lakshmi is the goddess of wealth both materially and spiritually and is the consort of Lord Vishnu.  She is also most sacred to women and can also be known as Sri when she is the goddess of beauty.
The main festivities, (as explained on BBC Radio Leicester today) last for 5 days as follows:
Day 1 – Prayers and rituals to the Goddess Lakshmi
Day 2 – Book keeping, balancing of accounts at the end of the year
Day 3 – Diwali – a lot of celebrating
Day 4 – New Years Day – more celebrating!
Day 5 – Inviting Brothers and Sisters to come eat with you, especially fabulous Indian sweets which will bring ‘sweetness’ into your life.
However, I apologise if the above is incorrect as I appreciate there are differences. Do feel free to leave a comment below on how you celebrate Diwali if you are reading this and share your experiences.

Ganesha is the elephant headed god of success who brings about the faith to start new projects and blessings upon those who need courage and strength to achieve.

If you would like a ten minute meditation here is one I found which is exceptionally powerful:

Traditional Painted Easter Eggs

The holiday time of Easter has different meanings for everyone.  Whether it’s religious or just eating stacks of chocolate, Easter is the only “floating” holiday period within the Gregorian or Julian calenders which follows a different cycle, that of the moon.  All other holidays and seasons are sun based.  It was in 325AD and the Council of Nicecea who decided when Easter should fall, it was determined it should be the Sunday after the full moon, after the Vernal Equinox (21st March) in the Northern Hemisphere.  There have been many computations over the centuries, but Easter generally falls between March 22nd and April 25th.

The name Easter derives from the Anglo-Saxon word Eostre and the Old High German Ostara which Bede’s in his 8th century work De Temporum Ratione states that ‘Eostre Monath’ means ‘Easter Month’ and is the equivelent month of April.  He also states that feasts had died out by the time of his writing and had been replaced by the Hebrew Paschal month/Passover.  Eostra and Ostara became known to Pagan religions as the Goddess of Fertility and Spring.  The date on the Wiccan Wheel of the Year of the festival of Ostara is March 21st.

There are many Easter traditions taking place worldwide.  In northern Europe rabbits and hares are common place, and fluffy yellow chicks.  Egg painting appears important in many countries and handing out eggs as gifts, even rolling them down hills.  Despite the fact we see eggs as a symbolic representation of birth is it is interesting to see the painting and hanging of eggs dates back to Ancient Egypt.  Painted eggs were hung in the temples symbolising the regeneration of life.  As with Western and European traditions of eggs at Easter there is also a festival called Sham el Nessim in Egypt.  It is held each year on the Monday after Easter Sunday and may possibly date further back in time to 2,500BCE and is believed to be of Coptic relation to agriculture.  These fertility rites were then adopted by Christianity and Easter celebrations.  The word Sham el Nessim litterally means “sniffing the breeze” and originally families would wake early and leave their houses for the country to take in the air.  Special foods were prepared and eaten.  This is still very much the same today and families prepare picnics and spend the day outside enjoying the start of Spring.  I can’t think of anything more wonderful than a picnic outside on a warm spring day with my family and this year has been exceptionally warm in the UK for the last two weeks.   We have adopted painting our fertility eggs from Ancient Egypt and the temples so maybe we should adopt an Easter Bank Holiday picnic too!

AND lastly let’s get serious, hands up all of us girls who would adore the ultimate in decorated eggs, a Fabergé ?  Well, join an orderly queue behind me!

This One Will Do Me Fine !

Whether you are celebrating Easter Monday or not.  I hope you have a wonderful time
Thank you for stopping by and reading.

What is Reiki?

Have you been interested in healing and helping others? Perhaps you have heard of light workers walking the earth to facilitate new energies and help people on their paths and you want to know what this is all about. Perhaps you have heard your calling and want to start on your own path to enlightenment and help other’s on the way.

I am a Reiki Grand Master Teacher and have, since childhood, been able to tap into universal energy. In the last 10 years I have been helping other people find their reason for incarnating into this current life time, and what they are here to learn for themselves and on many occasions what they have come to teach others. Many of my students or initiates have stepped forward after hearing about Reiki healing and wanting to know more. I am going to briefly explain about Reiki here, but please visit my website reikigrandmaster.co.uk for more information and feel free to contact me if you have any further questions.

What is Reiki?
It is a universal energy that has the ability to heal, clear, transcend time and space and is one of many paths to personal enlightenment. Reiki is “Universal Life Energy”. When “rei” and the “ki” are broken down into their component parts, the Kanji (Japanese alphabet), definition for Reiki is “Transcendental Spirit, Mysterious Power, and Essence“. ‘Rei’ is also Universal Energy or an ancient character for Rain, and ‘Ki’ is the character for Vitality or Personal Energy, which is the same as ‘Chi’ in Chinese or ‘Prana’ in Sanskrit. Therefore, Reiki is the Universal Life Energy raining down into the Life Force in the individual being. Reiki is non religious and does not affect any religious beliefs. It is pure energy from source.

This is the original Reiki that many others have stemmed from since. It was re-discovered about a hundred years ago by Dr Mikao Usui. There are many different stories about how this all happened and how he tried it on himself for an injury and then taught his students. Basically, the Usui system was introduced to the West by Mrs Hawayo Takata, from Hawaii, who received her attunement from Dr Hayashi. He had a Reiki clinic in Tokyo where Mrs Takata met him for treatment for a chronic illness. It is Dr Hayashi who is accredited for formalising the system of hand positions and levels of achievement to be used in a clinical environment. The most important fact about Reiki that is nearly always forgotten is that Dr Usui actually intended his system to assist people to become enlightened. The physical healing was a side affect rather than a goal!

Dr Mikao Usui

We all have Reiki or Universal Life Force Energy as a birthright. To be precise, we could say that we ARE Reiki or Universal Life Force Energy, for it is the very ‘stuff’ we are made of. Even science now recognises the fact that so called solid objects are just densely vibrating energy, in fact, there is no solid matter. Hermetic science also states that ‘all is energy’. Hospitals are employing Reiki practitioners as an additional alternative “aid” in treating a patient.

Reiki practitioners who offer the energy as healing are only facilitators of the energy, they are not giving away their own energy and are not depleted in anyway. In fact they actually receive the energy whilst giving a treatment.

I have been asked that if Reiki is so simple to receive how come we need someone to attune us. Well, we don’t. If you wish to tune into or receive an attunement yourself you can just by asking for it, but would you then know what to do with it? Would know how to heal yourself without a teacher showing you’re the path? Also, if you wish to practice Reiki on others for a fair exchange of energy, i.e. money, then you may need proof you have reached a certain level in your studies and have the ability to do this professionally, (but that is another topic for the future).

Reiki energy works on people, plants, animals, water, food, crystals, the home, clear the negative energy in the earth, and even machinery! Reiki helps each individual release energy blocks and the connected emotions, which in turn helps to release the cause of the much dis-ease, therefore being an excellent treatment for those who are sick.

Effects of a Reiki Treatment can be:
Balancing Energy
Increasing Awareness
Increasing Creativity
Helps Release Emotions
Amplifying Energy
Releasing of Stress and/or tension
Works on the cause of Dis-ease
Healing of Mind & Body
Healing of bumps, bruises and aches and pains.

Levels of Training
There are three main levels to what is known as Usui Reiki.
Level I – Initiate / Self Enlightenment
Level II – Intermediate / Practitioner
Level III – Master / Teacher

In Level I you will be taught the basic techniques for hands on treatments for yourself and others. How you can clear a room of negative energy, charge crystals, water and food.
In Level II you learn the techniques for distance healing, and receive the symbols by attunement to help you offer healing across the miles.
Level III adds in a spiritual energy and the ability to attune others and help them on their own path.
Not all people want to take Level III, as Level II/Practitioner is perfect for their own needs and others they wish to treat.

Reiki means something different to everyone who has ever been attuned and to every client who has a healing session. There is no hard or fast rule of giving or receiving, it is just a wonderful experience that can help anyone on their path to enlightenment. Thank you for taking the time to read and I hope I have inspired you, if you would like to learn more about reiki and natural energies please leave a comment under this post.
